People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

This is a story about Poppy and Alex who first met 13 years ago and initially hated each other. But since then, a friendship formed, and they make a pact to go on vacation every year. Over the years, they have ups and downs, and 2 years ago it went very wrong. However, this year, Poppy asks Alex to join her on one last trip.

The book goes between the present and past tense so you’re able to truly understand the history of their friendship and how this blossoms into something else. People We Meet on Vacation is now a Netflix film, so I’ve been wanting to read this to see how they compare. This isn’t my favourite book ever but it is a cute rom-com story, and I preferred this story to Book Lovers.

Where this book fell a little flat for me was that the whole plot was very predictable, even down to how the two characters miscommunicate but inevitably reunite. Nonetheless, it’s still a nice comfort read, and if you’re a fan of the tropes within this book, you’re going to enjoy it.

Unfortunately, I’m not the biggest fan of Emily Henry’s writing, but I’m glad I gave this a go as it was a quick and easy read, especially during summer.
